This wine has all of the qualities of a classic Oakville Cabernet. The nose has rich notes of cherry and sweet toasted oak with flecks of cinnamon and dried mint. The generous palate reveals plush fine grained tannins with black cherry, licorice, and sage with a nice long finish. The balanced acidity suggests this wine will age extremely well for years to come
93 Points!! Vinous (February 2020):
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Stock 16 Rows is complex and plush, with copious blackberry jam, licorice, menthol, plum, sweet toasted oak and spice. Even early going, though, it is impressive and also quite flamboyant.
92 Points!! Robert Parker (October 2019):
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Stock 16 Rows offers notes of raisin cake, plum preserves, dried herbs and tobacco with charcuterie and fragrant earth. The palate is big, full, concentrated and plush with bags of fruit and an earthy finish.
91 Points!! Wine Spectator (July/August 2020):
Ripe and forward in feel, featuring a lush wave of cassis, plum and blueberry fruit, backed by toasted vanilla and dark licorice notes on the finish. A bit pumped up in style, but a latent tug of loam keeps this honest. Best from 2021 through 2026.
